Start a side hustle. Get in shape. Become self-employed. Start a YouTube channel. Declutter the attic. Express love more freely. Write a book. Go freelance. Perform in front of an audience.

How many people reading this story dream of doing these things but aren’t? I know I’m one of them. I know I’m getting a little better every day but I still have far to go.

It’s not your fault. It’s not because you’re lazy or because it’s not important enough to you.

You just don’t feel ready.

The problem is, the world is built to ensure that you will never feel ready. And so is your brain. And that’s how you end up in the Death Valley of Dreams called “Waiting to be ready.”

Buy this and you’ll be ready

The first way we fool ourselves is through consumerism. We procrastinate actually working towards our goals by trying to buy our way into feeling ready. If you have money, this comes in the form of the exercise shoes you never wear, online courses you never complete, equipment you never learn to use, and so on.
